Day 1[]

Alex Taylor witnesses the Death Angels' arrival on Day 1 (A Quiet Place The Road Ahead)

Alex witnesses the Death Angels' arrival.

On Day 1 of the Death Angels' invasion of Earth, Alex was with her childhood friend, Martin Edwards, nature-watching in a forest near Martin's lake house. As the duo observed deer from across the river, Martin abruptly walked away. Alex, suspicious, followed his trail, only for Martin to startle her as a prank. Already stressed from the recent loss of her mother, Alex begins having an asthma attack. Fortunately, Martin's mother Laura happened across the pair at that time, helping Alex through the episode.

Alex, Laura, and Martin soon returned to the lake house, where Martin's father Robert and Alex's father Kenneth were waiting. Sitting on the deck, Alex and Martin began to acknowledge their mutual attraction to each other when Laura asked them to retrieve a bottle opener from inside the house. Looking through the house, Alex and Martin eventually ended up in the attic, where Alex was unnerved by Laura's extensive gun collection. Going to a nearby window, they overheard Laura comforting Robert over his wife's death. The scene was interrupted, however, when everyone sees a string of flaming asteroids falling from the sky, unaware they were ferrying legions of Death Angels.

Several hours into the invasion, Alex and the Edwards were driving to the hospital where Kenneth worked, him having left earlier to handle the sudden influx of injuries caused by the disaster. Several Death Angels clung to the group's van, forcing Robert and Alex to fend them off using two of Laura's guns. Managing to call Kenneth's cell phone, they had almost reached the hospital when they were caught in a violent collision. As Laura urged the group to be quiet, Martin let out a groan of pain, causing a nearby Death Angel to lunge at the two of them. Alex impulsively shot the creature, only for it to repel the bullet. Turning its attention towards her, the alien nearly killed Alex before Robert shot at it and yelled, sacrificing himself. Alex could only watch in horror as Robert was dragged away, Laura glaring at her in anger for having caused her husband's death.

Day 105[]

By Day 105, Alex and Martin were still alive, having managed to survive the threat of the Death Angels.

Under the cover of a storm, Alex and Martin investigate a nearby tourist spot to look for much needed supplies for the community of survivors holed up at the hospital Kenneth worked at. The pair split up to cover more ground. Alex is able to locate and gain access to a medical supply room maintained by former survivors at the Ranch and although doesn't find the necessary supplies, does find a pregnancy test. Having grown suspicious of the recent waves of nausea she has been feeling, Alex uses the test and it comes back positive. Martin finds her and leads her to a safe room with food stores he has found. Alex hesitantly reveals the test to him but Martin is overjoyed at the news. Alex also shows Martin a map of a close summer camp that the National Guard have been using to coordinate survival efforts.

The next morning the storm has cleared and the duo make to head back to the hospital. While climbing over a fallen tree on the road Alex becomes stuck, with the noise drawing the attention of a Death Angel who comes to investigate. Alex begins to panic which brings on an asthma attack but she accidentally drops her inhaler, alerting the creature to her exact location. As it charges at her, Martin makes a distraction, drawing the creatures attention to himself, which results in his death.

Day 119[]

Alex is inconsolable and guilt ridden over Martin's death. Martin's mother, Laura, shares the same sentiment and completely blames Alex for destroying her family. Laura, who was the leader of the hospital survivors, becomes distant and abandons her role, with the de-facto leadership being taken up by Laura's right hand man, Mark. Kenneth comes to check up on Alex. Alex tries to reason with her father to abandon the hospital and Mark's authoritarian rule and shows him the summer camp map. Kenneth is hesitant to leave due to Alex's condition (which he deduced some time prior to being officially told of the pregnancy). Alex however is set on leaving. Alex goes to the storage room where she is caught taking items by Mark. Alex attempts to lie but Mark seemingly is aware of what she is doing and vaguely threatens her. Upon returning to her room, Alex is confronted by Laura who has found the pregnancy test. Laura proclaims that she will not let Alex harm another member of her family and locks Alex in her room making her a prisoner. Alex begins to break out of the room when Kenneth arrives and he agrees the hospital has gone bad and Laura to far. Kenneth helps Alex into a vent just as Mark and Laura arrive to confront him over Alex's disappearance. Kenneth feigns ignorance but the conversation soon gets heated leading Mark to push Kenneth who falls backwards into a door which swings open knocking over medical equipment. A silent alarm goes off indicating there is a Death Angel in the building. Alex navigates the vents and hallways of the hospital, witnessing the creatures rampage as it hunts and kills multiple survivors. Several times Alex gets cornered by the creature but is able to evade it and escape the hospital to nearby woods and make her way to the summer camp hoping to meet up with her father.

Whilst traversing the forest, Alex sees that both Mark and Laura also escaped the hospital and are heading in roughly the same direction as her. Whilst climbing down a ledge, Alex hears screaming and a gunshot and witnesses Mark attempting to fight a Death Angel. His gun fire is ineffective and he is promptly slain. Moving past Mark's killer, Alex finds herself in a house in the forest with a landscaping business located in the garden. Due to the damage at the back of the house, Alex has to go to the second floor and climb down off the roof to progress. As she works her way onto the roof, Laura emerges from one of the rooms and beckons Alex towards her. Alex becomes startled when she sees Laura with a gun, leading her to slip off the roof into the garden below; the sound drawing a creature. Evading another Death Angel, Alex moves onto the summer camp.

Entering the summer camp, Alex finds it apparently abandoned but extensively rigged with sound traps and bear traps. She sees a flashing light coming from the camps radio shack and investigates its source. Inside she is reunited with Kenneth who has been wounded in his flight from the hospital, with Alex theorising Laura is responsible. Kenneth tells Alex the National Guard have left but hopes to use the camps radio to see if they are still around. Unfortunately the radio is inoperable due to the antenna being out. Alex volunteers to fix it and sets out. Dodging more traps and slipping past some of the creatures, Alex is able to fix the antenna and upon doing so a pre-recorded looped message from the National Guard begins playing telling survivors to go to nearby Clinton Harbor for evacuation. With a clear objective present, Kenneth tells Alex to return to the radio shack so they can leave. Laura then arrives at the radio shack, and over the radio Kenneth had given her, Alex hears their conversation. Laura demands to know where Alex is so she can protect her unborn grandchild but Kenneth pushes back suggesting Laura is dangerous, alluding to him being injured at the hospital. As Alex gets closer the confrontation gets physical and Alex witnesses Laura fatally shoot her father. The gunshot attracts a Death Angel which attacks Laura but she is able to flee before being killed. Alex shares a brief silent and tearful goodbye with her murdered father before pushing on. After escaping the summer camp, Alex comes upon a waterfall and taking refuge under its sound, breaks down in tears.

Day 120[]

The next day Alex sets out with hopes of reaching the river banks and following it to the harbour. Alex ends up on a bridge which is the sight of unparalleled carnage. Multiple trains have been derailed and numerous destroyed carriages are strewn everywhere. Carefully climbing over and through the wreckage to get to the other side, Alex ends up in a carriage precariously hanging over the side of the bridge. At that moment a creature lands on top of the carriage causing it to plummet down into the river below. Recovering from the fall Alex has to navigate train wreckage and wade through the flowing river whilst several Death Angels try to locate her. Alex is eventually able to reach a service ladder, allowing her to climb up to the top of the bridge on the other side but just as she finishes her ascent, the ladder supports break causing the ladder to loudly fall down into the river giving up her location to the creatures. With no hope of hiding, Alex runs and barely slips through a basement window of a building before being caught.

The building Alex has taken refuge in is revealed to be a semi functioning water station. With no hope of going back, Alex realises the fact she has to navigate through the station to progress. Seemingly maze like in layout, Alex moves slowly through the complex whilst avoiding a lurking Death Angel but also has to cut of and drain certain sections of the station that have fallen into disrepair and begun flooding. Alex use is finally able to escape after draining a subsection of the station.

After exiting the station through a maintenance hatch, the Harbor is within sight for Alex. Alex makes her way down and into Clinton and bares witness to the aftermath of the chaos from Invasion Day. The streets are littered with abandoned and destroyed vehicles ranging from cars and trucks to army helicopters. After going through a gas station Alex finds instructions left by the National Guard to get to the Harbor. The instructions tell of buildings to go through and ones to avoid. After crossing rooftops and through another building Alex arrives at the Harbor but finds it empty. Not being resigned to the fate of no sanctuary, Alex makes for the Harbor fire/rescue station in hopes of securing a vessel.

Entering the Fire Station, Alex finds several boats in the Stations boat bay but she is unable to access them due power being cut to doors and shutters. Alex's attempt at restoring power goes awry when an electrical fire starts which sets the main vehicle bay of the station on fire. The fire suppression system activates but the reservoir for the sprinklers is empty. To prevent the station, and her hope at survival, from burning down, Alex goes deeper into the station to pump water into the sprinkler system. Whilst maneuvering around a Death Angel, Alex succeeds in activating the sprinklers. Making her way back to the Stations boats, Alex has to cross the main vehicle bay but the smoke from the now quenched fire begins severely affect her. Just as she gets the shutter to the boat bay open, Alex collapses but is saved at the last second by Laura who drags her to safety. Laura, who was injured at the summer camp, begins trying to explain and apologise to Alex over what has happened. Alex silently forgives and reassures Laura by placing her hand on her stomach, over her unborn grandchild. Laura gives Alex a gas mask and tells her to get to the boat before leaving.

Donning the gas mask, Alex goes to the boat bay but due to the constrictive nature of the mask, Alex begins to have breathing problems. To further hamper her escape attempt, a Death Angel stands between Alex and survival by patrolling the bay. Moving as fast as she can whilst avoiding the creature, Alex is able to reach the boat and pilot it out of of the station. The noise of the boat begins to draw multiple creatures down on Alex but at that moment a lighthouse next to the station has had its beacon lit and its foghorn blared. The noise attracts the larger number of creatures away from Alex, who begin scaling the building to the top at which point they silence the horn and presumably kill Laura. A single Death Angel that was on the roof of the station during this notices Alex boat and attempts to jump onto it but seemingly falls into the water. Just as Alex begins to relax, the creature pulls itself up and onto the boat. Alex backs away in fear but the creature recoils as its causes a feedback interference with the boats radio. As it painfully claws its way towards Alex, she picks up a shotgun that was stored on the boat and puts it down with a head shot.

Day 121[]

Several hours after having left in the boat, Alex gratefully took in the safety provided by the surrounding ocean. Arranging her collection of mementos and admiring a pair of noisy seagulls, Alex was shocked by a sudden radio message. The man on the other end, possibly a member of the National Guard, asked if there was anyone there, to which Alex, hopeful to start a new life with her unborn child, happily replied, "We are".

Alex used stealth to stay alive and evade the Death Angels. Alex also used a sound level meter to measure sound levels while attempting to evade Death Angels. As an asthmatic person, Alex also used an inhaler. Throughout the game, Alex sought out and consumed medications to remedy her breathing problems if it progressed far enough. Alex utilises several different light sources to help her navigate the darkness on her journey and they include; a flashlight which she replenished with batteries, road flares, and a hand cranked rechargeable flashlight. Alex's father Kenneth gave her a multitool in the Summer Camp act to use disarming sound traps. At several points throughout the game Alex uses a pump action shotgun. To help Alex avoid detection by the Death Angels, Alex used sandbags to create safe and quiet paths through loud environments whilst also picking up and throwing bricks and bottles to distract creatures and disarm bear traps.

Trivia[]

  • Alex is the fifth character in the franchise to directly kill a Death Angel, the other four being Evelyn Abbott, Regan Abbott, Marcus Abbott and Emmett. She is the only other character besides Emmett outside of the Abbott family to kill one, and canonically the first character who managed to do so.
  • Alex had just finished her freshman year of college when the invasion began, suggesting she is 19-20 years old during the events of the game.
  • Alex is the third known character in the franchise to face the threat of the Death Angels whilst living with and suffering from a physical ailment. In order they are: Regan Abbott who is deaf, Samira (A Quiet Place: Day One) who is in the late stages of terminal illness and Alex who is asthmatic.
  • Across the entire franchise, Alex is the current character who has had the most/closest interactions with Death Angels.
  • Alex's journey for salvation took two nights and one day. Starting on the night of Day 119, her journey ended the early morning of Day 121.
  • Geographical information suggests Alex was in Connecticut on Day 1 and was raised there. Connecticut is a neighbouring state to New York where the rest of the franchise takes place. Given shots of the meteor and meteor shower from the main films and what is shown during the Lakehouse Act this lines up.
  • Alex is shown to be competent and capable of wielding firearms even though she has noticeable disadian for them and Laura believes she cannot use them.
  • Alex has the highest number of indirect deaths because of her actions across the whole franchise. Numbering four; her attempt to save Laura and Martin resulted in Robert sacrificing himself to save her. Martin sacrificed himself for her. Kenneth's refusal to give her up to Laura resulted in his accidental death. And finally, Laura sacrificed herself to allow Alex to escape the harbor.
  • Alex is the second main protagonist of the series to be pregnant after Day 1 , the first being Evelyn Abbott.
