Millicent "Millie" Simmonds is a American actress from Bountiful, Utah best known for Wonderstruck, A Quiet Place, and A Quiet Place Part II. For her work in A Quiet Place and Wonderstruck she was nominated for several awards including Critics Choice for Best Youth Performance. Millicent was named one of the Breakthrough Entertainers of 2017 by AP and and made Time Magazine's list of Top Ten Performers of the Year.
Millicent started acting with her school drama club performing Shakespeare plays such as Midsummer Night's Dream, and made her film debut at the 2017 Cannes film festival in Todd Hayne's Wonderstruck.
Millicent played Regan Abbott in A Quiet Place and reprised her character for the film's sequel. Just like Regan, Millicent is Deaf in real life and her first language is American Sign Language. When actor-director John Krasinski began casting a Quiet Place he was adamant about finding a Deaf actress to play Regan. Millie's experiences became resources and inspiration for the story and sound design in the film.
Her accomplishments and visibility have been major steps forward in positive film and media representation for the Deaf and disabled community. Her other roles include Emmaline in This Close and Libby in Andi Mack. Millicent is one of five siblings, and loves to spend time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include enjoying her favorite Rock music, reading, and riding her motorcycle.
