Roger is the former owner of a grocery store and an acquaintance of Lee Abbott. After the Death Angels invaded Earth, Roger made his way to a bar that was also used as shelter by Lee, Lee's daughter, Regan and others looking to hide from the creatures. By the 89th day of the invasion, the store had become abandoned and was used for supplies by the Abbott family.

Death Angels invasion[]
Day 1[]
On the day of the Death Angels' invasion, Roger was at the counter of his grocery store, tuning into the news regarding the mysterious events occurring on Earth. Lee Abbott, who had entered the store to pick up a few snacks, approached the line to checkout. Roger allowed Lee to leave without paying, as he was in a rush to make it to Marcus Abbott's baseball game. After those in attendance of the game witnessed an asteroid-like object in the sky, Lee and his daughter Regan attempted to leave via his truck.
Roger's mouth is covered by Lee to keep him quiet.
The Death Angels attacked the two and they eventually found their way to a bar where multiple people, including Roger, had taken cover for safety. As Roger quietly prayed, Lee reached over and covered his mouth to keep him quiet to prevent Death Angel come to inside the bar. They later witnessed the creature walk slowly and opened it's armor to detect any sound. However when the teenager phone ringed, The Death Angels quickly closed it's armor and soon attacked inside the bar, with Lee, Regan, Roger and others attempting to flee for their lives as the Death Angels began to slaughter those inside. However, Roger was still hiding even though he was hit by the table. After a Death Angel flips the table, it does not attack Roger, but rather look at him, then attack someone else. One of the possible reasons why the death angel does not attack Roger is probably because he was playing dead.
